This truly unique fabric of outstandingly high quality uses 100% baby mohair fleece from the very first shearing of young Angora goats. There are only three mills in the world that can weave mohair yarn this fine. Coupled with a very close weave, the superfine, delicate fibres make for an incredibly soft, bright velvet. The line’s dazzling palette of 19 colors was inspired by the deep blues of the night sky, the blacks and golds of the cosmos, the bronze and grey hues of the rings of Saturn and the glowing reds of Mars. The name Montaigne continues the Créations Métaphores tradition of naming velvets after legendary Parisian neighborhoods – previous collections included Saint Germain, and Montmartre – but it also pays tribute to the humanist French philosopher Michel de Montaigne, who was fascinated by astronomy. This 100,000 martindale fabric is chiefly recommended for upholstery and coordinates with plain fabric lines such as Cendrillon, Blackjack and Borsalino. The maximum roll size is 20 meters, and the fabric is dyed in 40-metre baths.
